Top Ten Books I Read in 2014
This was a little hard for me- some books jumped out at me, while others I really had to consider.
1. Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
2. Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
3. The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
4. The House We Grew Up In by Lisa Jewell
5. Bag of Bones by Stephen King
6. One Plus One by Jojo Moyes
7. The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian by Sherman Alexie
8. We Are Not Ourselves by Matthew Thomas
9. The Green Mile by Stephen King
10. Bellweather Rhapsody by Kate Racculia
What was your ABSOLUTE favorite book of 2014?
Loving your choices, Little Lies (aka Big Little Lies) definitey makes my top 10 of the year. I also love the inclusion of the fantastic The House We Grew up in and The One Plus One and Burial Rites is still sitting patiently on my TBR.
Gosh- thanks for pointing that out- I did a quick edit!
Burial Rites is one of my best books too! I thought it was amazing. I plan to read We are Not Ourselves. I didn’t love AJ Fikry as much as most people did.
My favorite book of the year was The Martian. Something about it – it was different frim everything else out right now.
I heard about that at a book club I went to last week- will put it on the 2015 list!
I’m excited to see Burial Rites on your list! It’s one of my favorites 🙂
I loved it!
Your list overlaps with mine with Burial Rites and One Plus One, which is exciting! My two favorites this year were easily Burial Rites and I Shall Be Near To You by Erin Lindsay McCabe, which I HIGHLY recommend if you haven’t read it yet. The audiobook is fantastic, in fact. (: Some of your others are still on my to-read list.
Any list with two Stephen King books is a top ten to me. I’m glad someone else enjoyed Bag of Bones as much as I did. 🙂
I debated over putting Big Little Lies on my list. It is probably in my next ten.
I haven’t read any of these. I only did books released this year because otherwise it was too hard. My top book on that list was Cress. 🙂
You HAVE to be kidding me! I am so in love with your list. I am currently reading The Green Mile right now and felt like I was so behind the times but it’s great to see you enjoyed it this year too! I am loving Jojo Moyes and can’t wait to read The One Plus One, definitely on the top of my TBR pile! Great list!
Here is mine 🙂

One Plus One was definitely one of my favorite books of the year! Such great characters!
Big Little Lies, A. J. Fikry, The House We Grew Up In, and One Plus One all got 5 stars from me this year, as well as Everything I Never Told You and The Invention of Wings.
I liked The Invention of Wings also!
Wow, can’t argue with any of these! 🙂 I can’t believe I left Burial Rites off my list — such an impressive book. We have a few books in common (A. J. Fikry!), and I see a few that I probably should have included (Big Little Lies!). I loved One Plus One, and really want to read The Green Mile and Bellwether Rhapsody.
I think The Green Mile might be one of my favorite King books- I hope you get a chance to read it!
Fikry was a wonderful surprise for me, and perhaps up there among my favourite fiction released this year. Every town needs an Island Books store!
Cheers,

I loved Fikry as well and Jojo Moyes always makes my lists too! I just bought Bag of Bones so will have to give it a go soon!
It is Kings only work that I would label a “love story” and one of my favorites!
This is the third time I’ve come across The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry on a top 10 list. Hhmm… Think I need to pick up a copy. 🙂
